Mail Chimp, the secret to amazing email marketing

I’ve been using MailChimp since 2009, back when I started my first newsletter. It’s been entertaining and incredible to watch this fun, quirky email newsletter company become a solution for small businesses everywhere. Their sense of humor and interface is so cute and likable.

MailChimp really has email marketing figured out, it can be one of the most effective forms of online marketing.

Here’s 5 reasons why I love MailChimp!

1) Videos/tutorials:

In all of their FREE resources, these guys want to make sure you understand their software and help explain everything from setting up a list to using their templates. Spend a few hours watching their videos and you will have everything you need to get started using their software.

2) Pricing:

MailChimp’s newsletters are free for the first 2,000 signups, I’ll tell you, that’s a lot of people! When you sign up, they don’t ask for a credit card. They also are great about letting you use most of their features with their FREE account. Even with 2,000 customers, you can send 12,000 emails for FREE. Amazing.!

Once you move beyond that, their pricing is pretty affordable and calculated by subscribers because MailChimp wants to grow with your business. With a paid subscription, you can get all of their features, with unlimited sending up to 50,000 subscribers. They also have a “Pay as You Go” feature for infrequent senders and you don’t have a monthly obligation.

3) Helpful Tips/Interface:

Whenever someone subscribes or unsubscribes from your newsletter (yes, it happens!), MailChimp will send you tips on how to improve your list. How thoughtful and with a nice personal touch.

As you use their software to create newsletters, they have suggestions to help educate you and make a better decision on what you are building for your audience. For example, they help you tweak your subject line of your newsletter by helping determine the most popular keywords.

Their interface is modern looking and once you get the hang of it, it’s easy to navigate. MailChimp have many preset email templates and if you want something more unique, there are many layouts to chose from to get you started. All templates (including the ones you make) are mobile compatible. People tend to read emails on their phones and guess what,  MailChimp provides a phone-view preview, so know what your email will look like. The layout design supports drag and drop to add the different elements. For adding text, links and images their WYSIWYG text editor is powerful and can handle simple photo edits.

4) Reports:

Yes, reports can feel boring and old, but MailChimp creates simple reports for every campaign you send out. It includes tracking clicks, what time the newsletter was opened,  who opened the newsletter, and more.

5) Mobile:

MailChimp knows that most people are checking their email on their phone. Signup forms and templates/themes for newsletters are mobile-ready. You won’t be embarrassed with your newsletter not appearing correctly on your client’s Android or Iphone. Instead, you’ll probably impress them on how pro it looks.
